As a warning to others, I must share my terrible online shopping experience. I ordered glasses for my 12-year-old from glassesusa after he used their virtual try-on, but he immediately had trouble seeing. We learned the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect; the glassesusa site does not prompt you to provide this crucial number, instead assuming a value that was wrong for my child. This led to immense frustration, especially since you will never be able to reach a human at glassesusa, and email interactions are too slow, causing the process to drag on. I felt compelled to engage with their customer service to rectify this mistake and get my son the correct lenses.

Customer: I'm calling about an order for my son. He can't see properly with the new glasses, and his doctor confirmed the pupil distance is wrong. Why doesn't your site prompt for PD? It just assumed a value. CS Rep: I sincerely apologize for the difficulty your son is experiencing with his new glasses and for the oversight regarding the PD. We understand how critical that measurement is. How can I help resolve this for you? Customer: Resolve it? I've been trying to resolve it! It's impossible to reach a human, emails take days, and now you expect me to send back the only pair he has before you even start on a replacement? He'll be without glasses entirely! CS Rep: I truly regret the communication challenges you've faced. I assure you we want to make this right. While our policy does require the original glasses to be returned for exchange, I can personally ensure your replacement order is prioritized and processed as quickly as possible once we receive them. We will provide you with a pre-paid return label. Customer: So, he'll still be without glasses for a while, but it'll be "prioritized." I suppose that's the best I can hope for. Please make sure it's actually fast this time.
